About TEACH Rwanda
What does TEACH Rwanda do?
TEACH Rwanda builds the capacity of whole schools, so Rwandan children learn through play, projects and purposeful practice. We mentor teachers directly in the classroom rather than running one-off workshops.
Where does TEACH Rwanda work?
Our headquarters are in Kigali. We operate Bright School in Muhanga, Southern Province, Rwanda, alongside a growing network of partner schools.
Who runs TEACH Rwanda day to day?
A combination of locally rooted and international expertise. An in-country team of Rwandan educators runs the work day to day. They're backed by a USA governing board responsible for strategy and financial oversight, a Rwandan Advisory Board, and a USA Advisory Council of specialists.
Programmes
What is TEACH for Transformation?
Our teacher mentoring cycle: observe a working play-based classroom, then join a workshop and mentoring cycle with your own learners. Module 1 observation is free and open to any teacher.
What does TEACH for Transformation cover?
Three modules, each building on the last. Observe: time in a working classroom where TEACH Rwanda Standards are in daily practice. Learn: four full days of small-group workshops held at or near your school. Mentor: in-classroom coaching with your own learners, with goals set together with your school leadership.
How long does a T4T cycle take?
Roughly two years. That is how long it takes for a teaching habit to actually change, which is why T4T is built as a cycle rather than a one-off event.
Who takes part in T4T?
Teachers and school leaders. Leaders join the goal-setting and learn how to support good practice through timetabling, materials and classroom arrangement. If you want a whole school approach, invite your administrators, Librarians, operations HR and finance teams to join – everybody becomes an advocate for high quality, inclusive, hands-on learning.
Can any school join T4T?
Yes. T4T is open to schools anywhere in Rwanda. Enquire and we will arrange a needs assessment to start.
Giving
How can I donate?
Online by card through our Zeffy donation form, by Venmo (@TEACH_Rwanda), by MTN Mobile Money (MoMo) to 502486, cheque by post, the Charity Charge Mastercard (1% of every purchase donated automatically), automatic deposit via Embassy Bank for the Lehigh Valley, employer matching, or estate and retirement giving.
What are Fund a Future, Music, and the Aichele Challenge?
They're our current appeals: Fund a Future covers school fees, uniform and daily meals for children who'd otherwise not be in school. Music funds instruments and professional teaching with Rwanda Rocks and Global Music Box. The Aichele Challenge is a matched-giving period from Gary and Wendy Aichele that doubles the impact of gifts made during it.
Can I donate classroom furniture or materials?
Yes. Wooden tables, book display shelves, benches and desks are handcrafted locally to our specifications. Orders are placed with a 50% deposit, balance on delivery.
Is my donation tax-deductible?
Yes. Donations to TEACH Rwanda are tax deductible in the United States, and qualify for tax reductions in Rwanda.
Getting involved
I lead a school. Can we partner?
Yes. Bring TEACH for Transformation to your classrooms, starting with a needs assessment. Your teachers gain a method and a mentor; your school keeps its own leadership and direction.
I represent an organisation. Can we collaborate?
Yes, on programmes, materials or specialist delivery. Technical, NGO and institutional partnerships are welcome.
Can I visit a school?
Yes. Educators, researchers and officials are welcome to observe a normal school day. Email the team to arrange it.
