Child agency
The quiet goal: children who can direct themselves.
The clearest sign that T4T has taken hold in a classroom is not a display board. It is what happens when the teacher steps out for two minutes. In a classroom running the method well, work continues, children know what they are doing, where the materials are and who to ask.
That is agency, and it is the quality the Rwandan curriculum is reaching for when it asks for analytical thinkers and collaborative innovators. It cannot be taught directly. It is a by‑product of being trusted with real work, daily, from age three.
